From Laser Facials to Microneedling

From Laser Facials to Microneedling, just some of the alternative options to Botox from The Award-Winning Wicklow Street Clinic

After lockdowns and all the frowning we have been doing it might feel like the right time to get botox, but it might not be – just yet. While botox is an amazing tool for facial rejuvenation –  there are alternative treatments that don’t just treat one or two areas – but all areas of the face and all manner of skin issues.

The Wicklow Street Clinic, on Wicklow Street, Dublin 2 has some excellent alternatives, working with clients to achieve their best skin possible. They include:

IPL laser facial tightening

IPL laser facials are tightening treatments that are non-invasive procedures and increase collagen production in the skin, giving a more lifted, tighter, and smoother complexion.

The Wicklow Street Clinic has an unique Q-Fractional laser technology that bypasses the surface of the skin (the epidermis) to access the derma micro areas of damaged skin. The production of collagen leads to the growth of new and healthy skin, resulting in a natural and long-lasting even complexion.

CACI facials

The least invasive of the non-surgical facelifts – If you want to look your very best for an event a CACI facelift is an electrical facelift that lifts and tones the skin. The effects last up to a week, but regular CACI facelifts keep up the effect.

The treatment encourages collagen growth and elastin in the face, while toning and lifting the facial muscles. CACI can also heal scar marks, boost vitality, and encourage cell renewal.

During a CACI treatment, a therapist uses a computer aided cosmetology instrument to lift, tone and re-educate the muscle back to its original position. This instrument uses a combination of ultrasound, LED and micro currents to encourage healthy, hydrated, and plump looking skin.

CACI is recommended for women and men of all ages between 20 and 60, and treatments are customised by a skin therapist depending on what you need.

If you’re looking for subtle skin enhancement or have scars that nothing has previously worked for, then Microneedling might be for you. Microneedling  is a treatment that encourages the body to produce collagen and elastin. Carried out using needles to cause micro injuries to the skin, this is a  self-repairing procedure that rejuvenates the skin, leaving it looking younger and brighter.

Before a microneedling treatment, a topical anaesthetic treatment cream is used on the skin. Natural skin cell regeneration is then stimulated by the skin therapist with a microneedling pen, creating micro injuries on the skin’s surface. A cooling mask and LED Light is then applied to the skin and the healing process begins. The tightening effect works on fine lines, deeper wrinkles, scars and uneven skin.

Profhilo Liquid Facelift

Remember those puffy celebrity faces a few years back that were associated with dermal fillers injected into the face? Profhilo is the opposite of that look, it slowly softens and changes ageing skin to create what looks like a subtle facelift.

Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of stabilised hyaluronic acid on the market. There is an immediately noticeable improvement in skin tone, hydration as well as firmness and lines are minimised.

Because it is thermally bonded (not chemically bonded) it acts as a hydrator – not a filler. It is injected just underneath the surface of the skin where it disperses quickly and reacts with one’s own tissue to instantly boost hydration.

Over the next four weeks phase two kicks in as it goes to work boosting elastin and collagen production. This effectively remodels the skin giving it a plumper, smoother and firmer appearance.

It can be used on the decollete, face, neck, arms, hands and knees. Any part of the body where the skin shows visible signs of ageing or ‘crepey skin’. On the face only five injection points are necessary on each side of the face to give maximum results.

Profhilo is metabolised by the body completely. There are no long-term side effects.

The risk of allergic reactions is substantially reduced because Profhilo does not contain any synthetic chemicals which some people might react to. No allergy test is required prior to treatment. Profhilo is carried out in the clinic by appointment only with their Harley Street Surgeon, Dr Roberto Viel.

Prices start from €400
